The God of promise, faithful in His doing; He set the children of Israel free from slavery in Egypt and brought them to the land of promise.
Then the warning:

When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that usethw divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a ncromancer.
For all that do this things are abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.
Deuteronomy 18:9 – 13

The inhabitants of Canaan were engaed in abominable acts. God detests sin and so adjured the Israelites to live distinctly when they eventually get there.

We live in a world today with many evil practices. Pornography, pre-marital and extra-marital affairs, fraud, effeminacy, necromancy, same sex marriage, among others.

Could this warning also be for us in this contemporary era?
Yes, God still hates sin and will punish anyone who lives in it.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
I Corinthians 6:9, 10

Disobedience brings death.
Because of moral decadence, so many evils have become like normal way of life. We have become less sensitive to sin. Everybody seems to be doing it; you become the weird one should disagree with them.
But “Do not commit sin with the crowd”.

The urge to commit evil, the pressure to flow along with the world seem easier.
What would you do if a child you have bore for nine months, loved, cared and laboured for is suddenly murdered in cold blood only in his last semester of graduating from the university?
What if he committed no offence; what if suspects were apprehended?
Won’t you rather seek vengeance with quicker and faster means than wait for the law to have its course?

After all, sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily (Eccl 8:11).
You may choose the option of conjuring with the spirits of the dead.
But forget not that it is an abomination before God.

Hear then the clarion call:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
II Corinthians 6:17, 18

The world is polluted with corruptions of different forms. Will you emerge pure?

Does Baptism Guarantee Salvation?

Before the full fledge of Jesus’ ministry, He was baptized of John (Matthew 3:15). Thereafter, the Holy Ghost came upon Him.
We should always keep this in mind that the life of Jesus on earth serves as an example for us christians; hence He was not baptized because He was a sinner but as a symbol to show the necessity of baptism.

Baptism is public declaration of faith in God acceptance of the Gospel of Christ.
It signifies freedom from the law of sin and death and acceptance of the grace of God through Jesus Christ – Matthew 3:11.

The fall of man in Eden brought condemnation upon us. We were separated from God, heading toward eternal doom. Sacrifices of rams and bull, though could appease God, could not atone for sin.

Jesus Christ, the creator (John 1:3) of man came into the world to rescue us. He was offered as a sacrifice to reconcile us with God. His death on the cross of calvary pave the way of salvation. He didn’t just die but rose again from the dead on the third day and was taken up to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God.
This is the gospel of Christ. He loves everyone, including you. That is why He came to die so that we may live forever in God’s presence – John 3:16.

Anyone who does not believe in Him will be cast into the lake of fire, where he’ll be tormented forever – Revelation 20:11-15, Mark 16:16, John 3:3

Anyone who believes, God will accept and forgives his sins – John 1:12, Acts 3:19, IICorinthians 6:17,18.
Once you are ready to forsake your sins, and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, then you will be baptized- Acts 2:38; 8:36.

But that’s not all. You must hereafter begin to live the new life in Christ. You don’t go back to your old life anymore.
Baptism is not a guarantee that you will enter into the Kingdom of God. You must submit to the power of the Spirit of God and continue to have faith in Him.
There are people who are baptized but still live in sin. They are hypocrites and will be condemned.

What God want from us is true repentance. Only then will the Spirit of God come upon us. (Acts 8:9-22)

Don’t wait while time pass you by. Give your life to Christ and be saved from the wrath to come – John 3:36, Acts 4:12.

The Mystery of the Rapture

The RAPTURE, which is the catching up or direct transfiguration of believers (christians), is a sure event irrespective of the conflicting opinions of many christians.
The events of the last days: the rapture, the great tribulation, the battle of amagedon, the judgements and casting of unbelievers into the lake of fire are not made up stories or wrong interpretations contrary to many beliefs.

They are recorded clearly in the Bible.
I Thessalonians 4:15 – 17
For this we say unto you by THE WORD OF THE LORD, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The great tribulation: Matthew 24:15 – 22
The Great White Throne Judgement: Revelation 20; those who will appear before God’s throne of judgement are already condemned and shall be cast into the lake of fire (vs 11, 15).

The Judgement Seat of Christ: II Corinthians 5:10; I Corinthians 3:10 – 15
The believers shall appear before Christ’s judgement seat not for condemnation but for evaluation.
Besetting sins that you fail to deal with will eventually deprive you of rewards in heaven.

Worse of it, you could even miss the rapture. If you are not a christian (please read earlier post ‘Why Call Me a Christian’), you won’t hear the trump.

Unforgiveness (no matter what degree, Christ pardoned our many sins anyway), anger (Mattew 5:22), compromise (Deuteronomy 18:9), and disobedience will keep you out.

Repent now (Acts 3:19) and let Jesus help you, if you want to make heaven (Revelation 2).

Jesus may come today, tomorrow or even now.
There is danger should you delay.

Why Call Me a Christian?



Christianity irrespective of dictionary definition goes beyond belonging to a particular group of persons; gathering and worshipping God on sundays. It is not contained in the publicised proclamations.

Religious men often get emotionally excited or inclined when worshipping their gods.

You don’t become a christian by participating in any form of religious ceremony, taking an oath or any form of registration.

Christianity is not merited based on qualifications or attaining some levels/ ranks. You don’t become a christian because you have been in a church as a member for some whiles. You are not a christian because men absorbed you for a skill or talent you have.

There is no price tag on christian status. It is not obtained by money. How much you have committed is a waste (useless) in the absence of genuine salvation. Acts 8:19-23

Christianity is not impression, it is not self-centred.

Christianity is an act. A constant practice that is perpetually expressed as a habit.

God created all things and made man superior over them all. His love for mankind has been demonstrated right from creation. All things came into being through the words of His mouth; but man, He stooped down and made him in His (God’s) image.
Sin separated man from God and the smooth relationship was disconnected.
Jesus came again to re-unite man with God by bridging the gap. He came that the lost might be found. So many persons are still ignorant of this essence.

We who believe in Christ have received the benefit (power) to become God’s children. John 1 :12.

The christians are people who are lead by the Spirit of God.

Man is helpless. Self righteous, religious practices and human efforts cannot redeem him.
Recognising the work of salvation done by the Lord Jesus Christ; accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour and submitting to His power gives you the privilege and right to become God’s child.

Once you submit your life to the Lord, the Holy Spirit of God comes in, takes away your sins (II Corinthians 5:17), sanctifies you and guide you to do what God likes (John 16:13).

God is Spirit (john 4:24); that means that He is everywhere. You don’t have to go to some special place to seek Him (John 4:21).
He is there where you are now: if you confess your sins and acknowledge Him as your Lord and Saviour, He’ll hear you and accept you as His child. Romans 10:8-10

A christian is one who is submissive to the power and leadership of the Spirit of God. He acts like Christ, is heavenly minded and committed to ‘the great commission of reconciliation; by reaching out to the perishing and bringing them to the fold.
He is protected and cared for by God Himself (Luke 10:19).
